Time’s Running Short: Do These Quick HVAC Tips Before Your Holiday Plans Start

In one of the strangest, most unexpected years ever, we’ve already turned our calendars into December, with only a few days until the Christmas break.

We started the year by looking at 2020 HVAC trends, quickly started looking for ways to improve indoor air quality in Lowcountry homes, reviewed what may be one of the best air purifiers on the market, announced our Moose On The Loose Summer Promo winners and before we knew it, we were fully into our holiday season here in Charleston.

2020 hasn’t been what anyone had planned, and our holidays may look a little different but here are 4 quick HVAC tips that you can do before your Christmas plans so you can stay comfortable and enjoy cleaner, healthier air in your home this year.

1. Adjust Temps For Extra Company

Though get-togethers may be smaller this year, the extra body heat generated when guests are in your home may raise the indoor temperature a bit, leaving it a bit more sticky and warmer than you may like it.

If that’s the case, you may want to turn down your furnace or heat pump system down a tad before your guests arrive to adjust for the extra heat.

This is also helpful if you’re doing a lot of cooking with your stove or oven, which may also make your home warmer than you would like.

2. Schedule A Quick Tune-Up/Service

To be extra sure your system is in tip-top shape, schedule a quick tune-up with your local HVAC company.

They’ll be able to inspect your system and let you know if there are any potential issues you should worry about before Christmas hits and remedy those issues on the spot in most cases.

3. Clean Or Replace Air Filters & Consider Indoor Air Quality Products

We’ve written about indoor air quality for years and one of the most important things you can do to improve your air quality is to regularly replace or clean your air filter.
